In the evening of October 11th Autumn Semester 2021, Ms. Zhang Jie, from Guilin Tourism University (hereinafter GLTU), launched an online Chinese course with the theme of “The Charm of Chinese” as the prologue of Chinese Teaching Event conducted by GLTU & LCB Brunei-China International Tourism Talent Training Center (hereinafter BCTTTC). More than 160 students from Brunei and other ASEAN countries took this online course and interacted with Ms. Zhang, showing great enthusiasm for Chinese learning. More than 20 students majoring in Chinese International Education from GLTU observed this class and acquired some useful teaching techniques applied in teaching Chinese as a second language.

This event is jointly planned and implemented by GLTU International Exchange and Cooperation Department, the School of Culture and Communication of GLTU and Laksamana College of Business. This event is the second series of overseas courses proposed by the BCTTTC. The course content consists of Chinese pinyin, structure of Chinese characters, basic Chinese communication, basic grammar, and integrates interesting knowledge of Chinese culture, Chinese history and the history of friendly exchanges among China and ASEAN countries.

In the context of the normalization of the pandemic, GLTU & LCB Brunei-China International Tourism Talent Training Center has promoted the education concept of “Internationalization at Home” and the development of Chinese language education in Brunei and ASEAN countries. In the future, we will actively build a bridge of cultural exchanges to connect China and Brunei and explore new modes of exchange and cooperation between China and other countries.
