The Second Session of Health and Wellness Tourism Talent Training Program of GLTU & LCB Brunei-China International Tourism Talent Training Center Has Been Successfully Held

In the evening of January 12, the 2022 Chinese and Culinary Culture Course of the Health and Wellness Tourism Talent Training Program of GLTU & LCB Brunei-China International Tourism Talent Training Center, organized by the International Exchange & Cooperation Department of Guilin Tourism University, was successfully completed. Dr. Chen Bangyu, Director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, and Mr. Li Rong, Deputy Director of the International Exchange & Cooperation Department, attended the online closing ceremony with relevant teachers and students.


On the ceremony, Dr. Chen Bangyu delivered a concluding speech. He thanked the Bruneian students for overcoming the difficulties and taking advantage of their spare time to attend the course, and appreciated the hard work of faculty team and the strong support from Laksamana College of Business for this program.


During the two-month training, participants had traveled around China online and knew about many kinds of delicacies in China, during which they also learned Chinese of relevant topics. Besides, they learned about the eight major Chinese cuisines, Chinese cooking techniques and Chinese etiquette, and made Candy Canes and Caramelized Banana online with Chinese teacher and classmates. This training covered all aspects of the tourism industry and would be helpful for participants to use Chinese flexibly while traveling to China in the future.


“It was a new learning experience, during which I learned a lot,” said Suk Nan, one of the participants. Another trainee Tahir Mahmood said that China has a big economic market, and learning Chinese would be helpful for his work. He also hopes to attend more training of this kind in the future to gain new knowledge.


The Health and Wellness Tourism Talent Training Program has been held for two sessions in 2022 and has offered a total of 150 class hours of Chinese language courses series, covering basic Chinese, tourism Chinese, Chinese culinary culture and practical exercises, etc., which attracted a large number of Bruneian students to participate.


Taking GLTU & LCB Brunei-China International Tourism Talent Training Center as the platform, this program will continuously promote Chinese language and spread Chinese traditional culture in Brunei and other ASEAN countries, under the support of the Center for Language Education and Cooperation of the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China.
